Lifting the Veil: The Hidden Wisdom of Sophia

Blog Series: Anamnesis Sophia | Post 2 of 6

She is co-creator, counselor, cosmic breath.
She dances in Proverbs,
weeps in Ecclesiasticus,
and whispers through the Gnostics.

-Oracle of the veil

There has always been a veil.

A thin membrane
between what is seen
and what is sacred.

She dwells just behind it—
whispering wisdom in dreams,
waiting to be remembered
by those with eyes to see.

The Lost Thread of Wisdom

Sophia—Holy Wisdom—has always been here.
Not as an abstract idea,
but as a radiant presence—
divine, feminine, hidden.

She is co-creator, counselor, cosmic breath.
She dances in Proverbs,
weeps in Ecclesiasticus,
and whispers through the Gnostics.

And yet…
she was silenced.
Buried under dogma.
Erased from pulpits.
Veiled by empire.

Sophia in Sacred Texts

Sophia appears throughout sacred writings,
yet her presence is often obscured.

  • In Proverbs 8, she speaks:
“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work…
I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always.”
  • In the Wisdom of Solomon, she is called:
“A breath of the power of God, a pure emanation of divine glory.”
  • In the Gnostic scriptures, she is the exiled one,
the fallen Wisdom who births creation
    and longs for restoration.

Sophia is not absent.
She is hidden.
And now, She is unveiling herself again.

The Veiling Was Never Complete

The veil was never meant to be permanent.
It is not a prison—it is a passage.

To lift the veil is not to reject tradition,
but to remember the truth beneath it:
that divine Wisdom was never male-only,
never limited to form or doctrine.

She is here.
She has always been here.
We have simply forgotten how to look.

A Sacred Practice: Veil Work

Sit in silence with a cloth or veil over your head.
Let it symbolize the ancient forgetting.
Then slowly lift it.

Ask yourself:
“What wisdom have I hidden from myself?”
“Where has Sophia been waiting to speak?”

Journal what comes. No filter. No fear.

A New Seeing Begins

Lifting the veil is an act of courage.
To see Sophia is to see yourself.
To remember Her is to remember your own wisdom.

You are not reclaiming something foreign—
You are returning
to a truth that has always been yours.
